The site is pretty muddy at the moment but I was lucky to have a day of sunshine to get the bulk of the setup done. There was a nice Devonshire man operating a JCB at the park who helped me get the top of the Sculpture lifted onto the Scaffold base. I'm looking forward to coming back to the park in the summer to see the landscaping finished and to get some good photo's of it with grass around.

Installation day!

Finishing the top of the Sculpture in the studio.

Went down to Hele Bay a local beach to do a bit of beach-combing for the material surface of the sculpture.

Working on the back of the piece.

Amazing sunset here tonight, had to include an image of it in my blog as I'm so stunned by it, my studio in London doesn't have any windows so I'm emmersing myself in the Devon light.

Have brought the elements of the Sculpture down from my studio in London to Devon to get ready for install next week. I'm finishing the work off down here as I need to gather some materials from the local area that will go into the work.

I'm enjoying using this ash-resin to create a kind of lava flow spewing out of the head.
Had an enjoyable chat/interview with Amy Cole from BBC Devon yesterday who wanted to meet me and talk about the work and the Sculpture Prize, the interview is available on BBC Devon listen again on the internet, it went out today between 11am and 12.

Getting Going!

Have got the printing done onto the galvanised sheet steel and I'm starting to fragment the image as it now exists on the wood and resin structure. The beginning is always quite daunting!
